Browne & Miller Literary Associates Internship Program

Browne & Miller Literary's long-running internship program offers interested college undergraduate and graduate students a comprehensive introduction to the publishing industry. Though we do not offer interns monetary compensation, we do supply letters of recommendation and make arrangements for course credit from the sponsoring college or university. Our program is an excellent starting point for anyone interested in the field of book publishing, and many of our interns have gone on to successful careers in the industry.

Browne & Miller Literary's interns are afforded the unique opportunity to develop practical skills and acquire tangible experience in trade book publishing within a busy agency setting. Interns are exposed to all aspects of agency work. Duties ranges from basic clerical tasks including typing, filing, and packing and shipping to reviewing query letters, reading and evaluating manuscripts and proposals, conducting market research, and more.

For our program, we seek bright, disciplined, and highly motivated individuals who are eager to learn. Excellent written communication and analytical reading skills are a must. Typing of 50 WPM and basic computer proficiency are also required. Some previous office experience is helpful, but not necessary. We will only consider candidates who have both a professional and a personal interest in books.

Our internship requires a commitment of 15 to 20 hours a week, generally for a term of about three months on a quarterly schedule. Although the program is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students, anyone is welcome to apply.
